Educational resources

Equipping local government leaders and administrators with necessary educational resources, guided-books and information is another major activity of the LGC. This is achieved through:

  • Administration of Local Government Information Center - www.lgic.info that accumulates local government related information, news, and posts resources for downloading. Lack of access to information, resources, and expert advice is the serious impediment for progressive change and decentralization at the local level. Therefore, it is planned that www.lgic.info will grow into the information clearing-house, or otherwise, Georgian language electronic library accumulating/compiling local government related resources: studies, assessments, reports, articles, books, statutes, regulations, guidelines, project descriptions, etc. LGIC has over 70 subscribers, who receive information from LGIC of regular bases.
  • LGC publishes resources. In 2002 in designed and published a Georgian text-book Governing City and placed its electronic version on www.lgic.info; created a training package in Participation in Local Decision-Making; and created readers in subjects suggested in degree courses.
  • LGC translates guidebooks and other resources from other languages and distributes published products to local government and self-government units.
  • LGC has a library equipped with various public administration and local government management Georgian, Russian, and English books.
