Introduction
The School of Government (SG), formerly the Georgian Institute of Public Administration,
is the oldest entity at GIPA.
Georgian Institute of Public Administration was established as a joint project
of the Georgian government and the National
Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) in 1995.
In fact, it is the foundation on which the Institute of Public Affairs was built.
Currently, SG graduates 100 students a year on average and has more than 369 alumni.
The goal of the School of Government is to
educate future government officials and provide Georgian government with
a cadre of professionals, who will introduce new styles and practices
of democratic governance, will empower the reform process and hasten transition.
In the Year 2004 the School of Government developed in direction
of furthering its capacity with a special accent of reaching higher level of institutional
and financial sustainability. In passed year the school achieved several objectives:
- Maintence, modification and improvement of ongoing programs;
- Enrichment of SG local faculty;
- Development of new textbooks and training materials;
- Introduction of new programs;
- Gaining higher financial sustainability.
