Certified Course in Tourism and Hospitality Management

The Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) offers a certified program in Tourism and HospitalityManagement that combines classroom theory and practical experience assisting the students to gain the relevant understanding, skills and techniques for achieving career goals in the hospitality industry.

Georgia is undergoing rapid and progressive changes encouraging further economic development of the country. Already declared priority of Georgian government - strongly supporting the tourism sector – and the secure business environment established in Georgia in the nearest past, appeared to be the reason of attracting foreign investors basically investing in developing hotel management and tourism sector. New fashionable hotels Tbilisi – Hyatt, Kempinski and many others – are being constructed in the center of Tbilisi. These new brands settling their own niche in hotel management sector as well as the public organizations responsible for development of tourism and hospitality are in need of qualified staff responding to the main requirements of the modern standards and the world trends. However, currently Georgia lacks professionals in this sphere that, in turn, creates problems for further elaboration of hospitality management culture in our country.

Aim of the Program

The aim of the program is to train and retrain future and present managers (of public and private sector) interested in tourism or hospitality management and thus eliminate the problem of shortage of qualified human resource.

Through this course, with assistance of invited foreign lecturers, experts and professionals, the students will have a possibility to obtain skills and abilities for development and further elaboration of tourism and hospitality sector. The curriculum includes hotel accounting and financial management, organizational management and organizational behavior, human resource management, strategic planning of tourism sector development, sales and marketing.

Curriculum

GIPA provides students with superior learning experiences and job possibilities in local hotels while pursuing the program curriculum offered by Hotel Management course. Provided studies continually expose students to current issues, trends and legislation affecting the hotel industry.

The universal curriculum of the program provides feedback for the representatives of both public and private sectors.

An advisory board works regularly with the faculty staff and students of the school to formulate and update a curriculum that is current, flexible and complaint with relevant needs and modern standards of the hospitality management.

The mission of this comprehensive course is to provide excellence in instruction and academic environment for the development of managers and leaders in and Hotel Management.

The duration of the course is 2 months.

The course is delivered in Georgian and English

Application Procedures

For admission in this course it is not necessary to have been previously enrolled in any hotel management program. Students with training in arts, business or technology, for example, are encouraged to enroll in the program.
