"GIPA for City"
On Friday, 7 December, the presentation of the project "GIPA for City" was held at the Institute of Public Affairs. The project envisages a participation of students in the process of city management through development of different projects and submission to municipality. Ilia Mikelaishvili, a student of Local Governance program presented goals and outcomes of the project.
Students Visited Tskneti Orphanage
On 6 December, students of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs local government masters program organized a charity event for the Tskhneti orphanage, entitled as part of a project called “I Want To Be the Mayor of Tbilisi”. The event was organized by the election headquarters of Ilia Mikelaishvili.

GIPA master students of Local Government program participate in a project “I want to be a Mayor of Tbilisi”. The project allows students to use the theoretical skills in practice and demonstrate leadership.

The Election simulation will be held on 10 December and all GIPA staff, students and teachers will take part.

3 candidates “will run” for the post of the Mayor: Mr. Temur Tordinava, Mr. Ilia Miqelaishvili and Ms. Ekaterine Gogichaishvili

Mr. Levan Koplatadze, Director of Tbilisi Metro and graduate of GIPA Local Government Administration Program, visited the Institute and met students of Master’s programs. Problems and achievements associated with work of Tbilisi Metro were discussed at the meeting.

On October 28 students of Local Government Administration Program hosted Maris Pukis, Assistant Professor of Public Administration on the University of Latvia and Ligita Zacesta, Secretary General of Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments. The guest speakers talked about relations of the local and central governments in Latvia.

On October 27 Mr. Giorgi Gotsiridze, council member of Geographical-informational Systems’ Consultative Center “Geographics” met students of LGA program. He talked about geographical-informational technologies and his experience in this sphere.
