Six-Week Practical Course in Video Documentary Production – Film It Yourself
Caucasus School of Journalism and Media Management, in collaboration with independent film studios Artefact Production and Sakdoc Film, offers six-week practical course in video documentary production for 12 beginners, film students and others interested in video documentaries. Language of instruction is Georgian.
- The first part of the course includes theory, history of documentary, screenings, development of technical skills (camera and editing) and short practical assignments. At this stage class will meet 3 times a week.
- During the second part of the course each participants will produce an individual assignment (3-5 minute long documentary piece). They will also be involved in other intensive practical activities.
The cost of the program is 400 USD equivalent in GEL.
The curriculum is based on a hands-on approach for documentary video production. Participants will prepare final assignment – a video project using the skills they would acquire during the course. By the end of the course participants will be able to independently work on development of a film idea, pitch their idea, and shoot it themselves. The participants will also get acquainted with current documentary film trends and genres.
If they want, participants can use their own camera for filming. Otherwise, students have access to the camera and editing facilities.
By the end of the course participants will:
- acquire and master basic technical skills (camera and editing)
- master in visual storytelling
- be able to develop a documentary film idea
- distinguish between various documentary film trends
